Croatian cultural centre inaugurated in South Hungary
A Croatian cultural centre was inaugurated in Baja, southern Hungary, on Thursday.
The 100 million forint (EUR 282,000) project was supported by the Hungarian government.

At the inauguration, Miklós Soltész, state secretary for church and ethnic relations, said the building will serve to “preserve the culture, language and Christianity” of Croatians living in Hungary.
Soltész said that the 15,000 Hungarians living and Croatia and the 10,000 Croatians in Hungary had formed a bond between the two countries.
The Hungarian government has spent 400 million forints on small-budget projects involving ethnic minorities, and has granted seven million to the Croatian community in southern Hungary, he said.

Mladen Andrlic, Croatia’s ambassador to Hungary, and Janos Gugan, the president of the Croatian ethnic minority in Hungary, attended the event.
